The Sports Hub building is operated by Milnbank Housing Association (MHA) as part of their wider role work and, to facilitate this, John and Krystian are full-time members of staff employed to co-ordinate and deliver the community activities seven days a week.

In recent years the building was fully refurbished to a high standard to provide public toilets, café facilities, a meeting room, outdoor courtyard seating area and it is the perfect base for enjoying outdoor activities in the park. Wi-fi is also available free to the users of the Sports Hub.

The Role of Milnbank Housing Association
The role of MHA, in their community anchor capacity, has been pivotal to the development of Alexandra Park Sports Hub.

MHA has attracted substantial funding from various bodies to promote healthy lifestyle, sustainable and low carbon initiatives and for capital projects such as the creation of a mountain bike track, the Haghill community growing project with polytunnel and raised bed facilities in the Park, and the creation of a Bike Hub within the Community Hub.

This contributes towards providing facilities for the benefit of the community by making a huge difference to the way in which Alexandra Park is used. It has helped to bring back into popular use the whole north side of the park which, in the past, was seldom used.

Scottish Government
By providing Alexandra Park Sports Hub, MHA is contributing to the Scottish Governments agenda for ‘A More Active Scotland’ in promoting physical activity through walking clubs, playing in a park, playing a sport – anything that keeps people more active more often.

The Sports Hub also promotes supporting the wellbeing and resilience in communities through physical activity and sport and our aim to improve opportunities to participate, progress and achieve in sport.
